Saturday the Second Fujian Pinghe Guanxi Pomelo Festival opened at southern Fujian-s Pinghe County, home of Guanxi pomelo.

Several hundred pomelo dealers and tourists from across the country attended the opening ceremony. With a history of more than 500 years, Guanxi pomelo features thin skin, plenty juice, mellow flavor, and balance of sweet and sour taste.

So far Guanxi pomelo farms in Pinghe has a total plantation area of 300,000 hectares, with a pomelo output of 460,000 tons and an output value of 800 million yuan. In addition, the export volume has reached 50,000 tons.

Pinghe ranks the first among all the counties in the country with regard to the area of pomelo farms, pomelo output volume and output value, and pomelo export.
